Start a conversation.
Good conversations often begin with a question, an interesting problem or a shared curiosity.
Over the years, some of the most rewarding opportunities in my career have started with an unexpected conversation. A technical question has led to a collaboration, a conference discussion has turned into a lasting professional relationship, and a shared interest in an old computing platform has brought forgotten projects back to life.
I am always interested in hearing from people working on thoughtful ideas, difficult engineering challenges or projects where experience and an independent perspective might be useful. That does not necessarily mean a formal engagement; sometimes a conversation is simply an opportunity to exchange ideas and learn something new.
If something on this website has caught your attention, whether it concerns my professional work, books, speaking or historical software projects, you are welcome to get in touch.
Where our interests might overlap.
Technology strategy and advisory
Through Aaron Ardiri AB, I provide independent technical and strategic advice to founders, technology leaders and engineering organizations. I am particularly interested in conversations about software architecture, product direction, technical debt, engineering practices and decisions with long-term consequences.
Engineering and collaboration
I continue to work hands-on with software and embedded systems. I enjoy exchanging ideas with engineers and researchers, especially where there is an opportunity to examine how a system works beneath its abstractions.
Speaking and knowledge sharing
I have spent many years presenting at conferences, meeting developer communities and sharing experiences from the industry. I welcome relevant invitations to speak, participate in discussions or contribute a practical engineering perspective.
Books and computing history
Questions about my books, historical development tools, Palm OS projects and software preservation are also welcome. I am particularly pleased when old source code or documentation can help someone understand, restore or extend a system from an earlier generation of computing.
Sweden and Australia.
I divide my time between Stockholm, Sweden and Margaret River, Western Australia and have spent much of my career working with international and distributed teams. Remote collaboration is a natural way of working for me, and I am open to planned on-site meetings or travel when there is a clear purpose.
For professional engagements, I prefer an initial conversation about the problem, the people involved and what a useful outcome would look like. That usually tells us more than a long list of requirements or a predefined consulting package.
Tell me what you have in mind.
A short introduction and a little context about your question or project is a good place to start. For advisory enquiries, it is helpful to know what you are trying to achieve, what challenges you are facing and whether there is a particular timeframe.
Whether it leads to a project, an exchange of ideas or simply an interesting conversation, I look forward to hearing from you.
