A few days ago; this kickstarter campaign just finished after reaching their
$75,000 goal.
The team over at ynvisibile is focusing its effort on the ability to
provide a flexible modular approach to arduino devices but more importantly
make printed electronics accessible to the general public. They have also
teamed up with a number of other vendors to provide interfaces to battery
modules, photodectors, solar cells and LED strips - obviously this is only
the initial partnerships that will surely grow over time. The conductive
ink integration also allows people to add their own flair and creativity
to end-user interaction.
The great thing about this technology is the ability to make IoT truly
ubiquitous - flexible devices allows for the expansion into sectors such
as wearing computing that doesn't need to be bulky or obvious. We have
seen many wearables in the field of sport, health monitoring and some
party gimmicks with t-shirts with LEDs that respond to audio - but putting
and arduino compatible device into the mix opens up many more opportunities.
It will be interesting to watch these guys and see how quickly they can
come to market after their kickstarter campaign and see what others can
do with the technology - if you want to see some of the demos they have
put together; pop on over to the list of demos.
