>> OCTOBLU LAUNCH - AIM OF PROFESSIONALIZING SKYNET PLATFORM
.. just when you go on vacation - so much happens :)
I recently reported on SkyNet just over a month ago which delivered an
open source platform for IoT created by Chris Matthieu - it seems that he has
joined forces to create a new company
Octoblu
with the intention to professionalize the SkyNet offering for the big league
under the new name Meshblu.
Matthieu (CTO of Octoblu) has partnered with Geir Ramleth (CEO of Octoblu)
who was inducted to CIO Magazine’s Hall of Fame in 2008 and was senior vice
president and chief information officer of Bechtel Group, Inc. from 2002-2013.
While Matthieu tinkered with SkyNet in what seems to be a hobby project,
the two previously worked together at Bechtel Group where he was a manager
for emerging technologies. The partnership could definitely lead to success
if they can truly capitalize on each others skills.
They are not alone in trying to do so - the
Thread Group are direct competitors in principle.
Meshblu is planned to be used for the discovery, control and management of
any API-based software application, any hardware or appliance, or social
media network. It can connect devices that run many different protocols
across a common platform, with modules for node.js, Javascript, Python
and Arduino with gateways for Mac, Windows and Linux.
Meshblu will remain open source, but the security elements will be offered
by Octoblu either as a service or via software if a company wants to run
it themselves or as a hybrid setup.
